How it works

Three steps. That's the whole app.

No scrubbing, no screenshots, no guesswork.

01

Upload the video

Drop in your video. It reads the real frame rate, so every timecode lands on the right frame.

02

Enter the timecodes

Type them, paste a list, or import an EDL/CSV.

03

Grab the frames

Export a still for every timecode in one pass, each named by its timecode.

Features

Everything the pull list needs, nothing it doesn't.

Fast, private, and precise.

Frame-accurate stills

Runs at the video's true frame rate, so you get the exact frame you asked for, not the one before or after.

Export to a spreadsheet

Send a batch to an XLSX where every frame is a row with its thumbnail, timecode, and filename. A ready-made shot list to hand off.

Timecode burn-in

Optionally stamp each frame with its timecode, so your references label themselves.

Crop to any shape

Export to the aspect ratios you need in one setting.

EDL & CSV import

Already have a shot list? Import an EDL or CSV and every timecode loads at once.

Saved batch history

Every grab is remembered. Re-run or tweak a batch without rebuilding your list.

FAQ

Good questions, answered.

Is it actually frame-accurate?
Yes. It reads the video's exact frame rate and maps each timecode to a single, specific frame, so 01:00:14:03 gives you that frame, not a neighbouring one.
Does it upload my footage anywhere?
No. Everything runs on your Mac, and your footage is never uploaded or sent to a server. No cloud, no account.
What video formats does it support?
Most common video files, including .mov and .mp4. If it plays on your Mac, it can generally pull frames from it.
Which computers does it run on?
Right now Grab the Frame runs on Mac. A Windows version is on the way.
How does the license work?
$25/year. After you buy, you get a license key. Enter it once and the app unlocks. You can cancel renewal anytime.
What happens when I buy?
You'll get an email with your license key and a link to download the app. Install it, enter your key, and you're ready to grab frames.
Can I move my license to a new device?
Each license works on one device and can't be transferred, so a new device needs its own license.
Have another question?
Email support@grabtheframe.com and we'll get back to you.
